Honestly folks.

The bluster & bullying & “how dare they say that?,” & silencing, & censoring?

It’s weakness x 10.

If you’re really strong, jokes don’t matter.

Only if you’re banking on fear to give you power do jokes matter.

That’s why authoritarians HATE being poked fun at.

No fear=no power.

Fellow knitting folks, especially those of us who teach and publish: if a new-to-you event wants to hire you to teach or speak, please remember that it is up to you to ask before signing what their policy is for inclusion, both for students and fellow teachers.

CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery.

America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.

Watch and share his message.

I want to speak to something that feels really important right now
I have been in the on-line knitting community for a long time and I have been a part of and learned from a number of conversations and I think that there is a very important conversation that is Happening and needs to happen 1/3

I feel like everyone already knows that AOC is learning to knit. She's off to a great start using yarn from a small dyer, Chiagoo needles, and look at her cute stitch stoppers! One more reason to be so proud of her!
Thank you, I’ll have plenty! I used to crochet a long time ago and just started knitting a few weeks ago.

It’s been a great way to stop doomscrolling and reflect 😌

I’ve finished a Sophie scarf and have started a sweater. (I’m waiting for more purple yarn & am casting on a new cardigan as I wait 🫣)

I’ve got this tech edited and photographed, it’s been test knitted and named. I can’t get out of my own way to read through the edits and get the pdf done. But it’s pretty and I love it.

another top down neckline option: I almost always begin with a provisional cast on beneath the ribbing. Proceed from there, knit neck ribbing later, sprinkle decreases in 1st round if necessary. Much more stable and under my control.
January 27, 2025 at 4:05 PM
another neckline tip: a loose neck can be reined in with a judicious row of slip stitch crochet on the wrong side, to pull in back neck stitches.

Polled knitters say #1 disappointment with finished sweaters is an ill fitted neckline. Wondering if together we can help.

yup, in fourth grade, Barbara B*** held a pencil *tip up* so I sat on it with my right side bum. It took the doctor 45 minutes of work to get all the pieces out and I wear the blue tag to this day, but it's now on my hip. I've grown a bit since then.
Every Gen Xer has a childhood war story about getting stabbed with a pencil and the tip broke off
