Hey #Quiltsky ! I'm working on a giant tumbling blocks quilt. I love the border print (Jinny Beyer) and I'm thinking the gold blocks really distract from it. What are your thoughts? Apologies for the dark photos. My basement isn't well lit.

Quilting is in progress. The negative space is finished and round 1 of borders is done. I still have to figure out what I want to do with the stars and the rest of the borders. #quiltsky

And now to sew all the blocks together, make a quilt back, cut a binding, quilt and bind it. The border was inspired by a Robin Pickens blog for Moda Blockheads located here -> www.robinpickens.com/blog/borders...
The blocks for a queen sized quilt on a design wall. The inner blocks are sawtooth stars and the border blocks are flying geese pointing toward 2" squares. The foreground fabrics are grayed out teals and blues from various Laundry Basket Quilts collections. The background fabric is Moda Grunge Essence - a pale ivory linen with hints of green and blue.

Call me a romantic. This Valentine's day I'm thinking how much I love fabric. 🤣
Color wash quilt blocks on a gray design wall ranging from gold and orange tones in the upper left through greens and blues across the center and ending with blues and purples in the lower right. Quilt blocks are 5" squares alternating with 3" dark teal tonal batik fabric.

Have you ever gotten more than half way through a quilt when you realize the instructions which said "These go fast!" didn't mention trimming each section of every arc to 1/4" seam allowance? I'm just so used to using the add a quarter ruler when I FPP. 🤣 I tried an arc without trimming. Seems bulky
A14 sets of foundation paper pieced arcs of colorful batik fabric are clipped together in groups. A box of clips sits on the sewing table along with some partially finished arcs with fabric strips dangling from them. A book is off to the left open to an instructions page. An omnigrid ruler is beneath the book.

In the true spirit of a lazy quilter, I'm about 35 arcs into this and I'm already thinking "Not doing the fpp borders. NO WAY!" If I get the 25 blocks finished and get some sort of border on it, I'll consider it done. 🤣

Lesson learned - If I stick to the appropriate colors for each row rather than randomly pulling whatever appeals to me at the moment, I can make the blocks and assemble rows rather than looking at the daunting task of 120 arcs. 🤣
