As this academic year wraps up, I’m reflecting with gratitude. Two projects close to my heart received recognition, and in a year full of challenges, that means a lot. Thank you to the mentors, co-authors, and communities that make this journey possible. 🌿📚

Dear universities,

I am begging you to stop requiring letters of recommendation for master's programmes. You and I both know you don't read them, so stop asking for them.

Instead, have applicants list a name and get in touch if it's a borderline case.

Signed,
Everyone.

Kicked off #ISA2025 with a great Geneva

Thrilled to see my article -- showing how a private organization has shaped, and diluted, an international human rights norm -- in AJIL! It shows how a global sport governing body has responded to legal challenges by retrofitting 'gender equality' to align with exclusionary regulatory practices.

@sarabkn.bsky.social and I have a new article out: "A Voice or an Echo? Women in the UN Human Rights Expert Bodies"✨

We study the impact of biographies on the behavior of experts in IOs. Most interesting finding: female members are more active.

The ICC didn’t imply there was “equivalence” between Israel and Hamas. They fight in the same war. That’s why there arrest warrants for violations of the law of armed conflict. It’s that simple. Late Joe Biden is a disgrace.
