It was a real honour and pleasure to receive the 2024 Polly Corrigan Book Prize and to deliver this address on intelligence and international law.
Thank you, once again, to the prize committee and organisers, and to the many people who supported me along the way - I will pay it forward.
Wonderful evening celebrating the award of the @kcsi.uk Polly Corrigan Book Prize 2024 to a very deserved winner, @sophieduroy.bsky.social Thanks to Intelligence and National Security and Women In Intelligence network for their support.

Would you ask a judge to declare a house haunted? What about suing a fortune-teller for mispredicting your future? Should the law even allow these claims?

So glad I spent 6 months putting together an application that has a 1% chance of getting funded 🙃
After submitting a FOIA request UKRI, I obtained success rates by three grant call scheme and I can only say that I am disheartened by the results:

- AHRC Responsive Mode 2025: 2%
- ESRC New Investigator Grant 2025: 1%
- ESRC Research Grant Round 2025: 1%

Agreed. Last point very interesting. Administration has stopped bothering even pretending that they care about international law. Bad sign.
I’ve studied US drone strikes, I wrote a book called “Drones and Terrorism,” and this Caribbean strike is different.

Lethal fire at a non-threatening target in a non-hostile environment on purpose when other means, such as capture, were easily doable, and without even attempting a legal rationale.
