Why not the Indian rupee? Although, both options: the yuan and the rupee will not become a substitute for the US dollar because they have many shortcomings.
Trump has mostly backed down from his more extravagant threats—thus cooling the markets—but concerns over U.S. Treasury assets in the long term will continue to encourage investors to turn away from the dollar.
