Genuine question to psychologists and other social scientists here: Have you been taught/Are you teaching that when designing a study/survey you should not ask about demographic stuff first? If so, what was the explanation given to you/you give?

I want to help you understand habits so you can create a better life

Psychology Today summarizes some of my methods. Not quite how I'd say it, but it's okay

Quoting someone else, the article says give yourself a reward like a coffee.

My view: That's an incentive. Not a reward

- The world is awful.
- The world is much better.
- The world can be SO much better.

Given many global problems come from how people think, feel or behave on their own or in groups, #BSci practitioners are uniquely placed to have positive impact.

I’m making data collection easier, how about you?

Thankfully with @gorillapsych.bsky.social version control notes & open materials give you:
1) a clear audit trail of what decision was made when for your protocol
2) an open-access record of the final protocol
3) a lasting repository for your data
4) Coming soon! Record of data pre-processing.
My first open science blog post, from 2009; unfortunately essentially the same could be written today.

Very few labs have fully-interlinked lab records, notes, data, and papers. Research infrastructure remains woefully underfunded!
