Happy to see the latest Hill/@clairemcmullin.bsky.social paper out in @chemistryeurope.bsky.social. We've found you can interconvert group 1 alumanyls by redox reactions with elemental alkali metals (no beryllium needed this time ;)).

An Alumanyl Test Case of Group 1 Redox Interchange
Rationalized by a thermochemical evaluation using both theoretical (DFT) and empirical data, we show that the arene-encapsulated M+ cations of the group 1 alumanyls, [{SiNDipp}AlM]2 ({SiNDipp} =  {CH...

A Ca(I) synthon with bridging N2 is key to the synthesis of homometallic Ca peroxide and oxide complexes. In solution, the Ca oxide complex decomposes even at -80 C. It can only be prepared in the solid state. @ChemCommun @RoySocChem shorturl.at/AUoWM

Unsymmetrical Bis(anilido)xanthene Ligands: Development and Use in the Preparation of Magnesium Diamide Complexes
Unsymmetrical bis(anilido)xanthene ligands, decorated by a 2,4,6-tricyclohexylanilido substituent and a less bulky anilido group, are readily prepared in moderate yields from a 4,5-dibromo-substituted...
