What if we had no electricity and everything ran on fossil fuels?
This ad keeps making me chuckle.
Enjoy if you have not seen it or rewatch as it is just gold.

Oh Cascadia! 💚🌲
Do it.
Solar panels on the stations along the way to help power it.
Waiting will only make it cost more. It's long over due.

Leaders from across the Pacific Northwest recently gathered at the Cascadia Innovation Corridor Conference in Seattle and reaffirmed their commitment to building high-speed rail linking the corridor from Portland to Seattle to Vancouver, B.C.

This whole album is really something special. Instead of just cruising on the fame from prior albums, Taupin and John created a work of art that went beyond that. Amazing that it was recorded in only two weeks.
Gonna go listen to "Funeral for a Friend" now.

“Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” hits #1 today in 1973 — a lyric Bernie Taupin wrote when he was “starting to feel a little bit lost in the whole circus” of fame.
“It’s an allegory, really — the idea of getting back to the farm .. but it’s also me saying to Elton and the world, ‘This isn’t who I am.’”

Three more great authors I remembered while I was out. Laura Esquivel, Alice Walker and Arundhati Roy. "Like Water for Chocolate", "The Color Purple", and "The God of Small Things" are awesome books.
For older, Jane Austen and the Brontë sisters.
There are a lot of amazing female writers.

Also, not going to read any of them. Dull is dull.
I am glad that more people will be reading Joyce Carol Oates books. I also recommend books by Ursula Le Guin and Margaret Atwood.

Imagine after it was said that a specific person didn't appear to enjoy the things most people enjoy like nature, a pet, music, beauty and meaning in life, reading, that the specific person offered up a list of non-fiction books.
I saw the list and nope, still didn't prove her wrong.

Happy Berlin Wall fall day! Good riddance to the Wall and the regimes that had built it. Celebrate the freedom that followed and don't fall for revisionism. The hard next decade was the pain of extrication from a failed political and economic project. This is my high school class on that day.

I wish people would take their online energy yelling at Democrats and use that to help get better people into office and get more people to vote.
I get it that people want to vent. But it's feeding the "Dems in disarray" propaganda machine.
Nothing will get fixed with GOP in the majority

US primary elections start in March, 2026. Not too early to make sure you are registered to vote and if anyone wants to change their political party, you can do that now.

Denmark is joining Australia in banning children under 15 years from using social media platforms.
No word if they will also fine platforms from failing to verify ages of users for accounts like Australia plans to do starting December 10th.
So far Bluesky has not been included in the platforms.

Anyways, this is why North America aquariums and some zoos have sea otters. Because of the good work that rescue organizations and even the governments do to save stranded pups. Knowing that ones that wouldn't survive has a safe place to live also brings awareness to everyone.
Reading about Japan's sea otters and not seeing the kind of work that is being done in North America to grow sea otter population. In NA, there is sea otter rehabilitation for stranded pups. Otters that can survive open seas are released. Ones that can't are in places with good care for them

If anyone has good references to Japan working with places like @montereybayaquarium.org or other, I would like to read it.

In 1909, Dr. Cora Smith Eaton climbed Mt. Rainier with a “Votes for Women” banner.
A year later, on November 8th, women in Washington state won the right to vote – the 5th state to do so, and 10 years before the 19th amendment.
