An interesting thing about cooking kosher food (I don't normally adhere but my parents do and they are coming for Thanksgiving) is that I'm having to create homemade versions of things I usually buy off the shelf (cream of [food] soups, stuffing mixes, etc.)

I recognize this is partially due to a location difference but a comparably-sized home now (in Southern CA I acknowledge) is literally an order of magnitude more expensive
