Back drawing my silly little comic after an exhausting week of non-stop non-art work

Don't write for an audience. Make the comic for you. Feed your brainworms. Make it something you would read and obsess over forever. You'll be working on this thing for a long time, if you lose interest halfway through, then the rest becomes a slog.
What advice would you give an aspiring comic creator? - 🦝

If you make your artwork at least twice the size it needs to be when printed/reproduced, shrinking it will tighten your details and lines and make everything so much better. Not to mention its easier work in details with a bigger canvas.

This works both digitally and traditionally.
Artists, QRP with a practical art "hack" you use. Let's share some wit & knowhow.

Keep hearing devs say that they only use ai for "pre-concept art"

There is no pre-concept art. There is concept art. That's where the idea starts. With the concept.

You're using ai for concept art.

As an actual useful actionable piece of information, I recommend picking up a copy of this book.

It is simple, short and to the point. Things have moved on a bit since 2018 but not so much that it isn't still very relevant.

Internet induced anti-intellectualism and rage bait has led modern media criticism to have such an unnecessary moralized mean spirited-ness to it. We can criticize something without assuming the worst about a stranger. And giving grace isn't the same as excusing faults in their work.

fanart but with the caveat that u have to actually be into it. when i make fanart for media i dont know, its always ehh ok but not amazing and doesnt get that popuar.

Every super popular fanart ive made was when i made it from a place of love and enjoyment for the media
artists! the social media landscape has changed so much in the past years. what are you doing to promote your art / get visibility? what's working / not working for you?

Beginning 2022, I started having arguments with people who didn't experience the loss of a loved one to COVID & associate "lockdown" with sourdough starters & WFH rather than Zoom funerals.

I just had to accept that we did not have a shared reality, nor were they willing to remember.
there’s a thread on reddit right now called “was COVID really that bad?” and it is interesting to read people’s accounts five years out

there seems to be a collective trauma response where people (outside of healthcare workers) don’t remember how many people died

someone called it anticlimactic

For folks wanting to do their own Arthurian drawings or costuming, an A+ resource: heraldry expert Wilfrid Scott-Giles put together a monograph in the mid 60s (of which I made liberal use) on the coats of arms and bearings described in the original sources:
