Those who have been around #HPC a while know the historical significance (and probably the names) of Japan's flagship supercomputers. They always push the boundaries of technology, but in ways that are driven uniquely by the needs of Japan.

This is a great article that explains the philosophical innovations behind NERSC’s new supercomputer: science is not just about batch jobs anymore. Draw the good ideas from AI infra advances into #HPC as possible. Definitely worth reading.

20 minutes into a talk by Ian Buck and his focus has been almost exclusively scientific computing. Little/no mention of AI, in sharp contrast to Jensen’s keynote. Surprising.
