They were very sweet. I asked a guy how he became an arborist and he talked to me for 15 minutes about getting burnt out working on supercomputers at the U in the 90s, and then he says he quit and got into trees.

Markus Oppel makes supercomputers sweat, molecules dance in the light, and shows how a single sulphur atom can turn sunlight into a cell-damaging threat.

Your favorite hand-drawn 90s Disney Animation films? Brought to you in part by supercomputing tech meant for nuclear weapons R&D.

Which is still pretty much the same situation today; animation/VFX renderfarms remain to some extent spiritual cousins of DoE supercomputers. (3/3)

Comparatively, the US National Weather Service's Global Forecast System model, which is based on traditional physics and runs on powerful supercomputers, performed rather poorly.
Google’s new hurricane model was breathtakingly good this season
Meanwhile, the US Global Forecasting System continues to get worse.

I just want to be rich enough to own one of the top three supercomputers in the world, is that too much to ask

All 5 of em are sentient and sapient military supercomputers LOL ik it's hard to see it, especially with Sierra and Blazer, but cut em slack. They been in slumber for 80+ yrs after raging human war xD they are not up to date with protocols!

Together with the others EU supercomputers, Deucalion is a powerful example of how Europe is giving innovators, researchers, and businesses the chance to use supercomputing power.

To design, test and build the technologies of tomorrow.

Spotify really is a marvel of technology, though obviously under capitalism, it's terribly exploitative. Capitalism, however, doesn't explain why these giant musical supercomputers can't fucking SHUFFLE.

I could be wrong, but aren’t current U.S. nuclear weapons designed & developed using advanced supercomputers to model & precisely calculate the effect of many thousands of variables thus eliminating the need for Real World testing & resulting in bombs that are highly “dependable”?

Do traditional supercomputers even exist anymore?

Fortunately a committee of psychologists, supercomputers, and psychics assigns each first grader to their classroom, they're definitely never getting a teacher picked at random.

@rpgtiger.bsky.social is showing me EU5 and it must be asked: Does Paradox Studios even want to make video games? Would they be happier crafting historical simulations on supercomputers?

Computer engineer lured into computational chemistry research programming (supercomputers 🤤🥵) and a coed professional chemistry fraternity. College was weird.

Complaining on a pocket supercomputer about people who complain on pocket supercomputers 🫠

whyyyy are supercomputers set up in local time. and more importantly why does python datetime assume local time by default.

Of course China and Russia have been testing nukes. Simulated on supercomputers just like the US. It's been this way for decades. There is no need to do live tests of nukes in 2025. Trump is even more stupid than he is evil. The stupidity of this is just mind boggling.

The future isn't AI. It's not robotics, or supercomputers, or whatever new trend the media is pushing at the moment.
The future is levitation. We have the technology. There is no reason why anything should ever touch the ground. Tonight's Low Quality Ad is for this Hover Planter.

Someone tell Trump that since the 1990s, we’ve had supercomputers capable of modeling this stuff. I suspect he just wants to leave a legacy that will outlive him by thousands of years.☢️

Resuming nuclear testing is a massive giveaway to China and Russia because we basically have the supercomputers to simulate them (look into why the DOE owns so many….) no and they don’t, so physical nuclear tests would give them a lot of data that they currently don’t have access to.

hey just a reminder since i havent posted anything abt it recently, i block ppl who interact with ai generated content. in ANY way.

ai generation is powered by supercomputers that heavily impact the environment. it also rips jobs from many many talented ppl

commision an artist. dont use ai.
