📌 Hi bluesky!

Who: Eric, a creative Christian (but not THAT kind) who enjoys talking games, sports, humor, faith, family.

What: I make games! @tinybookshelf.itch.io

Warning: I may indulge in abrupt/extreme tonal shifts (silly/serious), post pretty actively, and share bad jokes. I try to be kind.
I barely have any at all! I'm not much of a shmup guy. I can almost say, quite literally, the entirety of my shmup experience has been a few NES titles and the occasional bullet hell curiosity on youtube.

I hardly know anything about the genre! I'm curious what I'll end up with.

:)
Nice! What are your shmup influences?

good morning from a shmup developer
Am I really making a shmup?

Huh. Wild!
Oh yeah. Really like this font. That'll do!

This is your regular reminder that in the year 2000, Paul Rudd, with frosted tips, appeared in the Hong Kong film GEN-Y COPS as a bad guy (kinda). In the movie, he does martial arts, fights a robot, and, most shocking of all, does an entire scene in Cantonese.

starting to suspect this is a strange, near-nonsensical usage of the term "Pro-Am"

Ha. Was thinking about this, turns out I said it exactly a month ago.

Spent some time this week solving a technical/website problem that, in the past, I would've abandoned and let rot. Feels good. Growth is possible.

Anyway. Good morning!
Y'know what? I think I figured out a 'resolution' for this year.

I have a decades-long history of being the type of person who gets deeply discouraged by a setback. I rely on momentum because one lapse, disappointment, or obstacle always felt like a punch in the chest.

No more!

Hey, thanks for giving me the phrase "a large amount."

It means a lot.

Thought about something. Something specific. Something kept to myself.

Minutes later, got a spammy ad email about it.

...

DON'T LIKE.

I wonder if there's someone who hates Kirby.

They find Kirby annoying, irritating. They have within themselves an intense distaste for our hero, a seething repulsion. Everything about Kirby grates them, sets them on edge.

Can you imagine?!

Hey, just a quick little modern tip for everybody: If you meet someone, and they seem kinda cool, but they have wires sticking out of their head and need regular firmware updates? Might be a bot, be careful out there. 👍

Starting to see "no unscheduled phone calls" become an explicit policy at workplaces (well, heard about *one,* anyway!), and I hope that catches momentum. It has never made sense to offer unilateral consent for interruption. Incoming phone calls are an awful thing.

Good morning!

Whatever a post-Trump world looks like, I hold this silver-linings hope: That we can acknowledge (and respond to) issues of mental health more urgently and earnestly, whether in dulling the influence of malignant narcissists or understanding regulation/dysregulation in our parenting.

Hoping for some good news in the next 24 hours or so.

Kinda hate this feeling.

In my experience, I'm actually sort of amazed at how generally *forgiving, people are. People hold grudges, seek vengeance, etc. of course, but in general day-to-day life? You let stuff go. You just want to move on with your next thing. It's interesting sometimes.

Good morning!
