For the record, our division commander BANNED things called “presence patrols” in Iraq.
“If you don’t have a specific task & purpose, your ‘presence’ doesn’t do anything.”
National Guard stating they are now doing presence patrols in DC.

These years of Trump's presidency will be seen as the moment China rocketed ahead of the U.S. in influence worldwide, in technological leadership, in credibility. Not just because they are making great progress in many areas--though they are--but because of how Trump has damaged the US.

Latest inflation data just arrived came in right at the consensus forecast. Headline inflation of 0.2% in the month, running at 2.7% over the year. Core rose 0.3% in July, and 3.1% over the year.
For two years inflation was declining toward the Fed's target. That seems to be over.

Something that I have been thinking about with attribution of "PhD level intelligence" or "PhD level expertise" to a machine is that it reflects an increasing trend among these AI bros and their sycophants to want the products of highly skilled training without actually doing any of the work.
