Mooie documentaire, maar Terlou slaat wel vaak een nationalistisch toontje aan. Elk volk heeft van alles in z'n dna... Terwijl de globalisering overal invloed heeft en er dus vaak meer overeenkomsten dan verschillen zijn.

Ja en winsten zijn voor bedrijven. Schade aan natuur, gezondheid, maatschappelijke overlast, verslavingen, etc wordt over de schutting gegooid, overheid mag het opruimen en belastingbetalers mogen ervoor opdraaien.

Volgens mij is probleem eerder neoliberale hegemonie: kleine overheid, pro-bedrijfsleven, publieke sector gericht op efficientie... CDA, D66, JA21, CU, NSC en PvdA onder Samsom gingen daarin mee. Alleen nationalistische en/of xenofobe sausje is iets anders.

It would be good to have a constitutional monarchy, maybe a Habsburger, preferably with a large family. This way all Europeans could celebrate King's Day and enjoy the latest gossip about the royal family. This would really stimulate European unity.😜

Ja of neoliberale afbraak van de verzorgingsstaat. Alle lusten voor de rijken, de armen en de ouderen moeten hun eigen boontjes maar doppen. Dat er daarbij mensen (langdurig zieken, ouderen zonder recht op zorg, verwarde mensen) in de goot belanden doet niet ter zake.

Ja bezuinigen op de (ouderen-)zorg om aan defensie te spenderen. Het geldt klotst in NL tegen de plinten maar wordt besteed aan private botoxklinieken, lifestylecoaches en yogacursussen. Ondertussen ontbreekt het aan personeel om onze ouderen te verzorgen en wordt de zorg voor iedereen uitgekleed.
Kennelijk is het in het buitenland niet doorgedrongen dat het fantoomkabinet Schoof hier de boel in het honderd liet lopen.

Wel treurig dat conclusie van geinterviewde is dat hij zijn vertrouwen in "politiek Den Haag" is kwijtgeraakt en niet meer gaat stemmen. Zou nu juist op SP moeten stemmen. Zij strijdt altijd keihard voor behoud verzorgingsstaat. Jammer dat met "de politiek" alles over een kam gescoren wordt.

No, anthropologists now argue that everyone is connected thru networks with both their close environment and the wider world. So someone in Mississipi can also be very cosmopolitan, bot probably there are less of them than in NY.
But pronoucing words differently does not mean that you have a different culture. Linguists (Bortone) now argue that the links between language and culture are much weaker than previously thought. Moreover, anthropologist now even doubt the utility of the idea of cohesive cultures.
