Yesterday's WCBS near Bungay, Suffolk was fairly low on numbers, but it was nice that the second most numerous species (after Meadow Brown) was Small Tortoiseshell. Also nice to find 2 Small Heaths in the field where there is usually a single one 😂 #butterflies #wcbs

I think that the Water Crowfoot is Ranunculus peltatus

This was the first caterpillar that I identified to species as a child, so it always seems special when I find it. Here it is on birch in my garden, South Norfolk

I have recently returned from Ecuador cataloguing species with the Khamai Foundation.
They are desperately trying to protect an incredibly biodiverse are from illegal mining.

At least 4 species of butterfly on the wing at NT Sheringham Park this Easter weekend. Frequent sightings of Orange Tip, as well as 2 Red Admirals, a single Brimstone and a late afternoon Comma. #savebutterflies
