I wrote something new for this - here's Halla learning how to play the fiddle from Gilnor. #trsbwriting
Halla's lower lip wobbled in uncertainty, and Gilnor had to fight himself to not smile at how cute it was. "What if it sounds awful?" she mumbled. Gilnor sighed softly, reaching out his hand. He made a beckoning motion, and she obediently passed him the fiddle along with the bow. "Halla, you cannot be afraid of something like that," he said, lifting the instrument to rest it against his own shoulder. "We are not born good at things. Talent is a myth at worst; at best merely an aptitude for learning a type of skill. But it is all skill, and thus it can be learned." He settled his jaw against the chin-rest, and lifted the bow to the strings. With distinct elegance, he played a simple scale, the notes ringing crisp and clear to replace Halla's worried look with a smile. Gilnor then played the scale backwards. "Do you assume that I could play the moment I picked it up?" he asked gently. "I have years of practice behind me… The key is not to fear striking the wrong note; this will happen at first. The one thing that I can advise is make mistakes, but make them with confidence." He replayed the scale, this time clearly 'slipping' one of his fingers so that one of the notes was out of place. Then, as he played backwards again, he made his stroke tentative, which caused the fiddle to stutter and grate with a sound that made both their teeth grind - like nails against a chalkboard. "Ouch." Halla said with a chuckle. Gilnor grinned and passed the instrument back to her. "Confidence." he reiterated. Halla nodded and set the violin in place, her eyes looking to her own fingers on the neck as she practised putting them down in sequence without using the bow. Once she nodded again, Gilnor's lips parted, and he sang the scale to her. She managed to play it with only one mistake, and Gilnor politely corrected her finger position with a gentle nudge. But even so, she was determined and in good spirits that making sure her movements were purposeful stopped the instrument so…

The moment our lips truly meet, my heart nearly stops. I have to consciously keep my touch on his cheek gentle, to not move in a way that would scare him or undo the many small steps he's made on his healing journey so far. Rolim shifts closer, his lips brushing mine in tentative, slow nibbles. He's taking his time, too, checking in with himself before every slow movement he makes. It's cautious, as everything he does is. The moment his tongue pushes against my bottom lip, I nearly lose myself. I bite back a groan as my lips part, inviting him in. He doesn't take the invitation—not at first, but after a few more careful strokes of his tongue, he tilts his head and deepens the kiss. I can feel the tension in his shoulders reaching its peak. He's anxious, waiting for the moment when a memory destroys this soft moment between us. But when our tongues finally touch between our lips, Rolim shudders, and a quiet sigh escapes from his nose.

Where her attention had been on the revelers, now her gold-flecked eyes met his own. "I swear you forget I speak bear sometimes," she muttered. "Either that, or you expect me to believe the wood beneath my ass is for whittling."

Kestrel's back arches. Gods, why hasn't the done this before? Of course the answer is clear. She's been too focused on studies to bother with distractions. But as her robe falls open, she sighs. Her stomach clenches and flutters. Alira can't know Kestrel has yet to take a partner in bed. That she would be the first. Alira's fingertips skate down Kestrel's bare chest, and the room suddenly feels hotter. Should Kestrel tell her? But then Alira might stop, and that's the last thing Kestrel wants. The woman straddles her on the sofa now, running a thumb across Kestrel's lower lip. Giving in to impulse, she bites the finger lightly, and the elf smiles.
