I love the question of "when do you feel you're ready to take commissions as an artist" because the answer is probably you're not. Your first commissions probably wont go that smoothly because you don't have experience doing them. You can try your best to prepare so that it goes as well as it can.

Share your knowledge if/when you can. Teaching other people how to do what you do doesn’t lessen your art - it just means more and better art for everyone.
I appreciate when people are willing to tell me about their brushes, how they study, etc… I want to put that back out into the world.
