You probably know me for my bird illustrations and sewing stuff, and maybe dinner, but on this profile I'm just me, for the social side.
There's a business me too, if you know where to look.

Tom Hanks explains to Stephen Colbert why he masks on the subway:
"I'm doing a play right now so I cannot get sick... I've had COVID enough in my life, I don't need to do that again. So I'm wearing this for health reasons."
Thank you Tom! Masks are still a key part of public health.

I feel like we’re this effing close to starting to insert “giving effect to the whims of Seymour” into our public sector legislation.
Do not like.

I'm having a really hard time telling my brain that a Red Bull would not make everything better.

*Just quietly* if you've been looking at business me's posts over the last week, wishing you could order, but need a bit more time... while we've made the choice not to offer AfterPay, good old fashioned layby might be possible, if you're someone who knows me well enough to join the dots. ;)

Is there anyone in Pōneke/Te Awakairangi-Kāpiti who could use a fold-away sewing cabinet or two? They’re a bit banged up, but still sturdy and functional.
One single-leaf with drawer, one double-leaf with Horn-Lifter.
I’m finally getting my custom-made workroom set up. 🎉
Also offering elsewhere.

Didn't we ban fireworks already?
And wasn't everyone's mum really strict that they were ONLY EVER ALLOWED to be set off on 5 November, unless it was horrid weather, and then, and ONLY THEN could they be set off on the next clear night?

It's always a fun time when you get a sudden itch on an area of your body that has no sensation (severed nerves). It's literally an itch I can't scratch.

Who do I follow who is a Trustee for a registered charity in Aotearoa, and would be willing to have a chat about their banking experience? Basically just trying to work out if our dealings with our current bank are typical, or whether we should be looking around for a new bank.

Just updating some settings in LinkedIn (AI gen, I'm looking at you) when I came across this.
I am laughing.
Like, we literally searched for 18 months to find the most affordable, liveable house we could, and we're still living there 18 years later.
The last time I got "Promoted" was 2005.

Just got a knock on the door - would we mind doing a radio listening diary for a week?* It's just like the tv ones when I was a kid, there's even a booklet!
I said yes, even though I rarely listen to the radio. I feel like I might suddenly feel like listening to a lot of Concert FM this week. 😉

Righty-ho, I think I'm going to call it an early night tonight, but you know what?
The sun will come up, tomorrow, you can bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, the sun will shine...
(Unless you're in the lower North Island. But the sun will still be there. Somewhere.)

There are some days where my personal policy to not comment on anything political in public are sorely challenged.
Sorely challenged indeed.
But.
I.
Must.
Not.
Snark.
(I so very much want to snark.)

I just absolutely laughed out loud and clapped my hands after reading a FB post by our local mayor made earlier today.
It's a real pity he's not standing again.

You know, it really sucks to go from finally feeling like my hair was back to how I like it after losing it in 2019, to being at the point of considering cutting it short. I feel like I lost about 50% after I had Covid last year. It’s growing back, but the length is so thin it’s awkward to put up. 😭

I am so very glad at this evening's news. This must be a huge relief for so very many people.

Let me save you $15.
Luckily I also bought some ginger beer, and mixed together it’s tolerable. On its own it’s a 0/10 from me.

I have woolly stockings that were part of my school uniform that are still wearable (I’m now 50). Ones bought in the last 10 years only lasted a season or two. I’m hoping the $50 ones will do better.
Reminder that things are in fact worse quality for more money, that no, Elder Gen Z/millennials/gen x, you're not imagining it, nor should you accept it as "the way things are."
Shirts I've had 30 fucking yrs are still wearable, but a shirt I've had 2 months & worn MAYBE twice is already unraveling

The rain started early enough that I decided a swim was in order today, rather than a walk. Then I went and got my quarterly blood test done straight afterwards and I think that was probably the quickest and easiest draw ever!

Surprise phone call from my nephew, calling from the road as he’s heading to Wellington. “You need a bed?” “Not tonight, I’m camping on the way, but tomorrow? Sorry it’s so last minute…”
“Welcome to the [Redacted] family!”
Hearty chuckles all round. 😂😂
