The first five episodes of House of the Dragon are such a masterpiece I wish they had made that storyline the whole season. But I think it is so perfect because it is limited as it is. Beautiful.

What I see in a lot of mainstream sff short fiction is the lack of curiosity disguised in the language of revolutionary politics. Uninterested in its own subject matter, it tells you exactly what to think and allows you to feel nothing other than undeserved self-satisfaction.

There is a kind of rage that only fantasy can express, for there is an embodiment in fantasy fiction that is unique to the genre.

To criticize a short story for lacking characterization is like criticizing a banana for not being a pear.

Just remember: traditional publishing at all levels is allergic to queer storytelling. They do not understand. And, if they do, they are very likely to say no because they are afraid of backlash. I've had that experience. You've had thay experience. Let's recognize it and move on.

My favorite science fiction writers are Le Guin and Butler.

I find the conversation around reading western classics funny because I read them because I want to, not because I need their permission to create. It is pleasure I seek, not their validation.
