this is an obvious overcorrection that misleads the polling data and will lead to disaster in the Heartland. the results of tonight show that the Democrats should moderate: adopting two or at most three of the five pillars of Islam
if democrats are serious about winning they need to learn from tonight and convert to islam

Someone in a Teams meeting just said “It’s the old chicken and the egg question isn’t it? Why did they cross the road?” then realised what they’d said and turned their camera off.

The first two who come to mind for me are Sam Shepard and Peter Boyle, whom I first encountered through The Right Stuff and Everybody Loves Raymond, respectively. Buried Child! True West! The Candidate! Young Frankenstein! etc., etc. Little did I know.
For a long time, I thought Fred MacMurray was a lovable sitcom star in the vein of Dick York or William Frawley. In college, I saw him play cruel, cynical, exploitative, sexually insatiable men in Double Indemnity and The Apartment (released the same year My Three Sons premiered!). Mind blown.
I think everybody has a “Wallace Shawn from Young Sheldon” — my first one would probably be “Vincent Price, the guy who did the voice of Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective”

the term "what the absolute living fuck" gets thrown around a lot these days,
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

Holy smokes. Co-edited by Tony Kushner, if you needed any further boost. What a gift to anyone who loves theater and film.
This beautiful volume, a longtime passion project of my husband's, is out now. If you don't know the work of John Guare, treat yourself--he's one of our most important, funny, and original playwrights. (And as a bonus, the book includes his great Atlantic City screenplay!) www.loa.org/books/plays/

the US govt has mounted a repeal of the right to culture. There is simply no other way to understand dismantling Dept of Ed, PBS, NPR, NEH, NEA + IMLS, defunding universities, censorship of artists, attack on equal access to institutions,+ erosion of free speech.

Just found this promo pamphlet from a 70mm 2015 Roadshow screening of Tarantino's THE HATEFUL EIGHT tucked away on the bookshelf. Advertising swag, sure, but still, his love for the medium and attention to detail couldn't be more obvious. Long live the movies.

Pure disgust at the use of LLMs to reanimate the dead for fun and profit. I don't even care if they previously gave permission, which almost universally they have not.
