As the new year begins, we’re continuing to share ‘The Rimba’— a self-published, not-for-profit children’s book created to help young readers understand rainforest loss and the role consumer choices, including sustainable palm oil, play in protecting forests & #orangutans

Arrows are tricky. For us, as the designer of the visual, it will be super clear what it means. But for someone looking at our visual for the first time, it can be highly ambiguous. Depending on the reader, the same arrow can mean sequence, zoom, range, label, movement,...

💚 #TheRimba is 100% not-for-profit, all of the proceeds are donated to orangutan conservation organisations. Buy purchasing a copy, you’re helping support real orangutan conservation efforts, rehabilitation programs, and promoting more sustainable practices on the ground.

Behind the heartfelt poetry and bold illustrations is a real scientific foundation: the urgent need for sustainability, and the reminder that protecting Earth’s treasures is something we are all part of. 🌏

After many years of trying to combine my 2 passions, art 🎨 and science 👩‍🔬, into something meaningful, i have created an educational #ChildrensBook! 📚

✨ Meet The Rimba🦧, a gentle, lyrical tale about a wise orangutan guardian spirit who protects her rainforest home and the creatures who depend on it.

It is a book used to educate children, and raise awareness on the plight of the orangutan 🦧. There is also a free education pack to go with it, to inspire the next generation of conservationists 🌏

100% of the profits go to orangutan conservation charities. 💚

I have published a childrens book! 📚🦧

'The Rimba' is a lyrical tale about the rainforest’s guardian spirit, a wise orangutan named Rimba, who rises to protect her home and the creatures within it, from the impacts of deforestation for palm oil. 🌴

Are you also sick of seeing a poster full of text and 6 blue rectangles around it at a conference? 🙄

If you know someone who could benefit from professional scientific illustration for figures, presentations, and posters, please like, share, or tag them!

Scientific research is crucial. It provides the data we need to understand these creatures' lives and the threats they face, and how to push for #sustainable action. Every discovery brings us one step closer to protecting them. 📚💻

We must act, now more than ever. 💪🌿

It's heartbreaking how close the threat is, and how difficult it is to #RaiseAwareness and find solutions due to international disputes and differing priorities. 🌍🛑

The fight to protect these habitats is not just local, it’s global.

This is the harsh reality for these incredible creatures. Orangutans, in search of food due to #HabitaDestruction, face the growing threat of venturing into these plantations and encountering conflict with workers, and the risk of losing their lives. 🦧💔

🚨 A stark contrast... On one side of the river, the productive and vibrant rainforest - home to #orangutans, tigers, gibbons, hornbills and countless other species. On the other, never ending swathes of #OilPalm plantations, creeping closer every day. 🌴
