Magic Riot: Full Bloom by @magicariot.com is so flammin' good! Once again Kara captures the feeling of an animated show in text. There's so much I want to gush about with this book. There's something deeply euphoric about this story in a way that I didn't expect.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."
There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Magica Riot is such a fun read.
I wasn't sure how magical girls would translate to text as it's typically a visual thing like TV shows and Manga but Kara @magicariot.com does a fantastic job!
It's got the right mix of character growth, beating up minions of an evil force and lighthearted moments.

Fantastic book, with a interesting take on deities in the modern day.

Today in the lab I picked up a reagent bottle and was stunned for a moment with my brain going "what the hell is Autistic acid?" before realising it was actually Acetic acid in terrible handwriting.

As someone that has only gotten into Magic in the last two years I love it when I find stores that sell bundles of cards like 10 rares etc it gives me a chance to come across cards from sets too old to find packs for. Dune-brood nephilim is weird I love it. 1/2

Currently playing around with a standard mtg deck around the idea of playing with opponents cards.
It is not at all consistent or competitive but the chaos it causes is so much fun.
This is the main gang so far, not sure what else I should include.

My lovely partner surprised me with a handful of Zendikar Rising boosters. Never seen anything from this set before, the party mechanic seems fun. I discovered Murasa Rootgrazer which looks incredible for playing with landfall now I just need to come up with a way of generating token copies!

Reading so many brilliant works by indie authors on bluesky has done wonders for getting my brain out of its post academia funk.
I think I might actually be up for writing something for pleasure rather than for an assignment.
Now I just have to fight my ADHD to follow through.

I know there's probably a logic to this that I'm missing but some of the Foundations Jumpstart cards being banned in Standard feels like a poor choice. Take Cynette, Jelly Drover and compare it to Arahbo, the First Fang for example, similar cards yet one is allowed in standard and the other not.

As an avid reader I prefer more limited visual descriptions and typically skip over long descriptions entirely. Not because I like to let my mind fill in the blanks, I have aphantasia and literally cannot imagine the visuals being described.
I would do just about anything to be able to visualise.

I'm trying to avoid seeing too many spoilers for #aetherdrift because I get a lot of joy in discovering cards organically. That being said knowing the set has a ton of vehicles and mounts has me looking at how strong Miriam, Herd Whisperer could be with this release. #Magicthegathering #mtg
