This is not to say Netanyahu's government can survive until Nov 2026 as is. Current forces are pushing Israel to make concessions that the fascist far-right party won't agree on. I won't be surprised if Netanyahu survives by getting Gantz to re-join his gov instead of Otzma l'Israel.

Netanyahu's other lie was that his coalition partners would bring the government down if the war ended before its goals were realized. In reality, Smotrich-Ben Gvir's exit threats were never credible, given polls showing them crashing in case of election. A ceasefire was signed, and they stayed in.

Netanyahu's big lie was that we need to continue fighting in Gaza to return the hostages, when all along the reality was that he needed to agree to stop the war to have the hostages returned... within 72h.

I served 4 years as an officer in a combat unit in the IDF and 8 more years as an officer in the reserves. I can assure you that the IDF is not, by any stretch of imagination, the most moral army in world.
“Again, I think the IDF is the most moral army in the world. And I think it is so horrible, the way they’ve been portrayed.”

Photo of the Day: Just Following Orders.

An 89 year old woman is arrested in London for opposing the genocide in Gaza & supporting Palestine Action.

According to the UK Government, this is the face of terrorism in 2025.

I do bot read the crazies on Twitter but from experience, hello! Turkish political scientist here, they will.
Can someone who reads the crazies on Twitter tell me if MAGA is buying this as normal?

(I assume this was largely authored by Danny Finkelstein, who has still not retracted his claim that those who describe Israel's actions as genocidal are simply antisemitic trolls, and that there is no evidence that would convince him that Israel is deliberately killing children.)

Difficult to convey the moral bankruptcy of this Times editorial.

Israel is a functioning parliamentary democracy that is currently engaged in genocide, but the Times blames Hamas ("they made us do it") and a few extremists (who "dismay" Israeli "moderates").

And in shocking news, all the transphobes who are all about "protecting women sports" are not supporting them.
The WNBA All-Stars came out wearing warmup shirts that said, "Pay Us What You Owe Us."

The players' union met with the WNBA Thursday and came away frustrated with the economic model proposed by the league.

This strips antisemitism of any meaning, weaponizes Jewish safety for fascism, and actually makes Jews less safe.

The answer is always: “yes, it is for political reasons.”, “yes, it is censorship.”, “yes, it is the groundwork for media capture”.

Also, the fact that not only the general public but the liberal opposition’s silence about trans rights is frustrating. We know the saying “they came for the…” Whatever an autocrat wannabe is doing to the most vulnerable and least protected is just an exercise; soon it will be “you”.
this is getting next to no media attention and it’s horrifying. transphobes weren’t going to stop at bathrooms, no hormones for minors, they are going to keep pushing until it’s entirely illegal and no one is standing up for us other than trans people

I am constantly triggered by the path (re)taken by Trump & Co. dismantling the institutions. In theory, there is not a problem with this story. However, I, now, know it is nothing but a smoke screen into autocracy. It is maddening.

I am seeing my American liberal friends writing about the Epstein files and trying to tell MAGA voters about the hypocrisy of all. From someone who has been living through it for 23 years, I can tell you: The voters will look the other way if you are lucky. In reality, they will just be okay.
