As an aside, yesterday I watched the documentary “Helsinki Effect“ about the 1975 CSCE/OSCE negotiations.
The realists like Kissinger thought it all was just a complete waste of time, ya piece of paper that would be ignored.
But it turned out to be a powerful lever against autocracy.

I really wish I had time to write more about the history of Social #Democracy in #Finland and the Nordics, in part because I think it would be valuable to understand that #welfare state wasn't built in a day.
And that the work is both boring and neverending. Utopias are processes, not destinations.

Missä todellisuudessa nämä elävät? Hallitus ei ole hillinnyt velanottoa vaan todistettavasti kasvattanut sitä rajusti leikkauksillaan ja veroaleillaan. Talouteen luotiin epävarmuutta ja ihmisiltä vietiin usko tulevaisuuteen. Kulutus hyytyi. Se olisi selvinnyt vaikutusarvioinneilla, joita ei tehty.
