I tried carob chips once. They tasted like burned fries.
I tried carob in the 70s and didn't like it. Someone on YouTube recently convinced me to give it another go because it's high fiber, luring me in by describing it as having a "rich, nutty, caramel flavor." I tried. It tastes like licorice powder mixed with weak, subpar cocoa powder. Yuck.

The coffee & bookstore featured in the article is Beow’s Books & Brews in Raleigh. I refuse to set foot in there because the owners are rumored to be Christian nationalists and J6 supporters. This article certainly doesn’t change my opinion of them.
“It’s so much harder than I thought it was going to be, but it speaks to me in a way that nothing else ever did.” I visited a growing Orthodox Christian parish in North Carolina to understand why so many young men are converting. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/11/19/u...

I love the use of judgmental adjectives in the descriptions. “Unexploitative story.” “Adequate remake.”

With all the discussion of Tim Curry ‘s long career, I want to make sure that we include one of his under-appreciated roles: Charlene’s snooty fur coat on Dinosaurs.

Loved this book so much. I remember bringing it to overnight camp. I had a camp counselor that year from South Africa who was a Simpsons fan. At that time South Africa had only gotten to season 3, so he was super excited to look through it.

Age yourself with a movie you saw in theaters as a kid.

First film I remember seeing in a theater. I was scared because of the trailers showing Rick Moranis about to eat his children in the cereal. So I cried and screamed until my aunt took me home. I still don’t know how the movie ended.
