I messed up on the black Scotty and bled color all over the page. Said fuck it, and leaned into it, and made all the others really lean into playing with color.

What are four of your favorite pieces you've created?

Displacement - A Fatal Occurrence. A massive inverted pyramid emerges from a billowing thunderstorm updraft. I've probably posted and reposted this piece the most out of the body of my work. I painted this in 2012, during a month I took off between switching game development studios. It was the first image I did fully with a technique that later became my standard workflow (using layer masks with flat colors). I feel like this image perfectly encapsulates my perspective as a symbolist/surrealist. Headless A figure made from stone meditatively poses in a vast desert while their head has erupted into sinewy-gossamer flaps. At the center, a bright light is visible with faint markers of sacred geometry being highlighted by concentric circles and dots. This image was painted for MCDM's Arcadia magazine (in 2021 I believe), but I feel like it represents many of my core spiritual beliefs. There is an element of Anātman that subconsciously came through and I appreciate how the image makes me feel. It's very peaceful to me even if it maybe looks a bit violent. Undivided ~No longer two of us, we are together in light and eternity~ A genderless being idles peacefully in golden saffron robes lined with chrysanthemums. Behind them is an aura, or portal, and surrounding them are iridescent birds. I painted this image in May of 2020, and I feel like it was a turning point for me in two ways. I was embracing a more mindful attitude about my own gender identity, and I was also embracing a more hopeful theme in my work. Memory of Salvation - Oremus Maius 2016 - Day 28 A burning halo floats above a black ibis gazing at the viewer inside of a lambent red space. I used to participate in my own version of Sketch a Day May that I named "Oremus Maius". Oremus translates to a daily prayer and Maius is May. I don't have much to say about this piece other than I just really like it! It was created quite quickly (an hour and a half total?) so I feel like I was in a flow state while painting it.
