Young people can be terrific #socialcare workers but are too often let down by lack of support and, sadly, a toxic work environment. Those are the headlines of our new report asking how the sector can recruit more younger staff. Short thread. kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-an…

Alas neither Labour UK nor Wes Streeting on here yet, but could we all agree that however MPs vote on AD next week, this is a huge opportunity for the government to announce - finally, after decades of successive governments failing dying people - proper NHS funding of palliative care?

“Autistic people should always be involved in research in a meaningful way and should be listened to at every stage of a project.

By doing that, researchers can avoid inadvertently doing research that is either harmful to autistic people, or which misinterprets the findings."

Why autistic people must be at the heart of autism research
A research project led entirely by autistic people aims to change the way autism research is conducted.

ADHD people don't lack attention, they lack the ability to direct it. ADHD attention is like Cyclops without glasses often. Often having our attention stolen.

Autism can cause meltdowns and shutdowns by being OVERWHELMED by the emotions of others. Being a human mood thermometer isnt fun.

School environments are inaccessible for many autistic and neurodivergent learners (and staff) on many levels, relating to every sense.

Noise. Sight. Smell. Touch. Interoception. Proprioception. Taste. Yes, even vestibular...

I'm working on ways to make schools more sustainable with a charity. We also really want to take into consideration how this could help students with additional needs.
If you don't mind me asking, what do you think are some of the most important things that would make the built environment better?

Paraphrased: Girls learn early about the importance of “fitting in” and getting along with others. This focus on social interaction may encourage them to camouflage their autism symptoms so that they don’t stand out, which can easily result in the misdiagnoses of borderline personality disorder.
Misdiagnosed: BPD or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
One of the most tragic outcomes in misdiagnosing ASD as BPD is the damage that can be done by inappropriate treatment protocols.

On NHS funding in the recent budget (for England, but we’ll get consequential funding for the other nations in UK).
