President Trump has made $4 billion by illegally trading access to the White House to get rich. He controls the Dept of Justice and the Congress so he won't be held accountable - until he doesn't control the Dept of Justice and Congress.
Trump’s Profiteering Hits $4 Billion
In August, I reported that the President and his family had made $3.4 billion by leveraging his position. After his first year back in office, the number has ballooned.

Draghi’s Leuven speech was a wake-up call for Europe: the old rules-based order is gone, and only a true European federation can preserve our values, defend our interests, and act as a global power. Deeper unity isn’t optional—it’s our future.

We want strong trans-Atlantic ties.
But Europe needs to adapt to new realities.
It is no longer Washington’s primary centre of gravity.

It’s time for Europe to step up and act with urgency.

Barack Obama warns U.S. core values are under attack: justice, accountability, civil liberties. Democrats resist funding security agencies after the Minneapolis killing, risking shutdown. When violence meets denial, democracy needs courage.

It didn’t take a coup to empower Hitler or Mussolini. Power didn’t seize overnight—it normalized itself through legality, “restoration,” hostility toward foreigners, excessive national pride. Today’s U.S. echoes the pattern: institutions stand, independence erodes, outsiders are blamed.

Despite documented abuses, near-total lack of oversight, and bipartisan criticism, seven Democrats voted to keep funding ICE — prioritizing institutional continuity over accountability, and backing an agency many now describe as America’s blackshirts.

Great speech, Mr. Prime Minister @mark-carney.bsky.social.

At Davos, Mark Carney spoke a language Europe understands: rules-based markets, climate action as economic discipline, shared prosperity over zero-sum politics.
Common values, common challenges—and a welcome sense of responsibility.
As great powers abandon rules and values for their own interests, middle powers like Canada have a choice: compete with each other for favour or act together with impact.

Europe keeps answering trade blackmail with statements. Wrong move. Use reciprocity—and reinvest tariff revenues to shield EU exporters, diversify markets, and absorb the shock. Access to the EU market is leverage. Use it, or be used.

If the EU leaves US tariffs in place—worth ~€93bn—why not recycle that money to support EU exporters hit by Trump’s trade war?

Compensation, credit guarantees, diversification. Retaliation can become resilience—if Europe acts together.
