not sure if this makes sense but the thing i like about daft punk's work on tron legacy is that it's "what if daft punk did a movie score" as opposed to tron ares which is "what if a movie score was a NIN album"

how could they forget the fourth pillar which is drunk indie devs causing massive amounts of drama in their "scenes"

i'm surprised there hasn't been more writing on how the boom/bust cycle of the marvel film biz basically mirrors the 90s comic book industry crash? like even down to the infinity gauntlet marking the top of the boom period, preceding endless crossovers and gimmicks that crashed the industry.

going to do a double feature of the last couple eps of andor s2 then "mandalorian and grogu" to see if it's possible to die in real life from tonal whiplash

there was a five-ish year stretch where i was designing almost all the non-licensed merch, designing all of the signage and video displays, and also physically working the booth from show open to show close at the pax west bungie store booth

good times but pretty much burned me out on cons forever

every year i get a couple twitter or linkedin dms with unsolicited "UX case studies" and every time they consist mostly of a bunch of new feature wishcasting and very little UI/UX work.

i'm not sure many game devs (at least the ones on social media) have quite come to grips with how much what most of us traditionally know as "the games industry" was entirely based upon that industry having an incredible bull run of double-digit growth every year for 20+ years.

i only remember one and it was people freaking the fuck out/crying hysterically/leaving the theatre at an opening weekend showing of the blair witch project
Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema?

During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.
Someone in my audience had a very audible negative reaction to the dog scene in TOGETHER. So that was fun!

games media headlines in the big 2025 are either "THIS IS KILLING GAMES: WOKE Greedy AAA Game Devs Give Lara Croft DEI JAW" or "Donkey Kong Bonanza Reviewed: Why I Can't Enjoy It Because of Capitalism And Neither Should You"

whenever i feel myself starting get pissed off by content creators/critics/enthusiast media outlets etc. i think about the chokehold harry knowles/AICN had on the movie industry during the late 90s to early 00s... now millennials my age struggle to remember him, mandela effected out of existence.

it's appropriate that this is the coda of lazarus because i think biggest impact the series will have is making the notoriously divisive wolf's rain look WAY better in retrospect

altnps being the 11th most followed account on here is one of the worst things anyone has said about bluesky
The Alt National Park Service account calls itself the official "resistance" team of the US National Park Service. With 887k followers, is one of the biggest accounts on Bluesky. It is the 11 most followed account according to some trackers.

This thread will dive into its activity.

Another great work by @filmsdelover.bsky.social 🖖

“'Marvel fatigue' alone can’t explain why Star Wars is experiencing the exact same trend, following almost the same timeline. It raises the question of whether this is more of a Disney+ issue than a Marvel or Star Wars one."

funny how many on both the left and right-wing spheres of the viddy game influencer economy tried to convince everyone "idk the vibes are off guys :(" before this launch.

don't work yourself into a shoot, brother.

shinichiro watanabe is definitely not dodging the "was totally carried by keiko nobumoto" allegations after lazarus.

wild that i've been in the industry long enough to see the "E3 is a disgusting orgy of excess" thinkpieces morph into "the fact that we don't have E3 anymore is a damning sign of our decline" thinkpieces
