same thing with star trek; i can appreciate lower decks and stuff like strange new worlds' musical comedy episodes for their own merits but i believe collectively they doesn't "expand" the star trek universe so much as they basically make star trek stand for nothing, just a label for content.

might be a hot take because i like andor and (parts) of mandalorian but i do NOT think it is healthy for these monolithic franchise to still be trying to do the IP expansion "anything can happen in this universe, from wacky animated comedy to serious adult political dramas!" strategy in the big 2025
