It's still a shock to find a new PFAS forever chemical hotspot, even when it's inevitable. A bit of digging around paper mills, which often use PFAS, revealed the banned carcinogen PFOS at levels as high as 3,000ng/l in groundwater in south Cumbria

Imagine how vile a racist and genocide-advocate you have to be to have the UK slap sanctions on you.

But sure, have ten million quid.

Vastly more women than men. Just as true crime in general is consumed by more women than men (75-80%).

As victims or potential victims, we both empathise and follow them as cautionary stories.
I would really love to know a gender breakdown of who has followed the story of one of then bravest humans to have been thrust into the spotlight against her will, for unspeakable things done to her, and seizing the moment to (hopefully) change minds and laws podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

The rich can always get sex. But they can't always get total domination, violence, control, and they can't always get people to shut up about it afterwards. This is the service Epstein offered.

I've listened to Juliette Bryant. She is completely traumatised by what she went through. She also has lots of unanswered questions. About, for instance, waking up in a lab on Epstein's Zorro ranch in the middle of a procedure - about which she has no idea.

If you read this thread about the anti-democracy shenanigans in Georgia, you may, like me, get a prickling, uncomfortable feeling.

A lot of it feels AWFULLY familiar.
Liquidating entire faculties, universities, and even targeting neighbourhood supermarkets and pharmacies (this is on a rhetoric level now, but the speed is fast) is not just a political crisis; it is a systematic dismantling of the Georgian social and economic fabric. 2/

Now I've got the words "mudflat footpath" rattling around my brain like the worst earworm ever.

Is there no end to the BBC's iniquities
The follow up to The Woman in Black sounds dull, even she’s got Prime now 👀

My world, my Earth is a ruin. A planet spoiled by the human species. We multiplied and fought and gobbled until there was nothing left, and then we died. We controlled neither appetite nor violence; we did not adapt. We destroyed ourselves. But we destroyed the world first.

Small Prophets is the most Generation X thing I've ever watched.

A comedy for people who spent their teens listening to Smiths records in their bedrooms.

Initially misread this headline as "Hobbits could hold key to beating loneliness"

That's also true, of course.
The Liberal Democrats have argued that the country faces a "silent epidemic of loneliness" and that a lack of community spaces is forcing people to find human interaction online.
Hobbies could hold key to beating loneliness, say Liberal Democrats
Party leader Sir Ed Davey sets out plans to boost funding for community groups and hobby enthusiasts.

Self-correction:

It's not just that they don't care.

It's that very many of them ENJOY seeing the vulnerable suffer.

That much is clear from the Epstein affair.
It's not that they don't believe them.

It's that they don't care.
How sad that they would rather believe those pedophiles and rapists over the victims😡

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.

The BBC is still at it: Trojan-horsing pernicious lies into the mainstream in the name of spurious "balance".

An official inquiry is needed.

Don't know if I'm the only one feeling this, but it's as if the depravity and evil revealed around the Epstein affair have pulled back the curtain on life and none of us will ever believe in the illusion ever again. This is what the rich and powerful are. This is not an aberration, it is axiomatic.
