Profile budgie avatar (Zacky) seems a propos for BlueSky. We had budgies for 30 years, almost all adoptees, and I've volunteered with Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary. Interested in the arts, politics and pressing social issues of our time.

I'm not religious but in a kind of animist inspiration, at another point when I felt humans were not doing the world many favours, I wrote this prayerful poem. Background is my photo taken near home last October (Kitsilano Beach, Vancouver, BC.)

This is the explosion/fire that caused my detour when headed to choir practice tonight, the 11pm news said 8 people are displaced from their home, not 2.

The narrow side streets were challenging to get through with detoured traffic. Glad no one's injured.

#NOEM may have a bead on truth but by the sound of things, many Americans are losing faith in her cruel capers.

Thanks to HCR for an encouraging account of Republicans turning against the deliberate violence of I.C.E. and right-wing media calling out the unacceptable vision of negative figures like Miller & Noem.

The closing words from Alex Pretti offer a thanks to which he, too, is now entitled.

A massive walk-off is needed. Everywhere. If they can shut down the government for months for no good reason, and refuse to work, Americans can do it back to them for a day or two. It's badly needed.

I hope there will be accountability. May we all wake from this nightmare.

PAY by PHONE APP probable update needed

Vancouver, BC street parking requires this app and today I struggled to get it to work to pay my parking. Once in out of the cold I found the app needed updating, cross my fingers I'll remain logged in, now and not have barriers paying parking on the app.

A very weak Trump, using the podium to hold himself upright, trying to issue threats of annexation while painting himself and the US as gravely put upon. He's only taking that big chip of ice to protect the world though we don't appreciate him for doing that. Bad world.

DARNED IT (x 2)

At Gord's urging I finally put the new darning wool to use and did my inexpert darning of his two pairs of merino wool socks with heels needing healing. I used an empty kefir container as a darning "egg" and have told G. it'll work better to do this before the holes get too big.

JOLTING the LITTLE GREY CELLS
Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot character often talks of working his little grey brain cells. Gord gave mine a poke this evening, wanting home printed business cards. I've been retired for 9 years and the odd corner where MS Word hides the template was well forgotten.

When we think the most outrageous chicanery ever has been foisted on us all, this regime continues to surpass it.

I've seen comment that some elected officials are waiting for the next deadline to pass when they can be "primaried" by Trump to stand up to him.

That's a feeble hope to hang on for.
