Love being sent on a runaround to try and get my name updated with my cellphone company lol... called a week or so ago, they say "oh you changed your last name too, you have to go in store"
ok fine... I go in store, the girl (super sweet, no shade) has to call the company... also gets the run around

Onto chapter 2 of Pillars if the Earth.
The narration style in this book so far is honestly very beautiful. I cannot wait to see where it goes.

Flowers are the first obvious sign that food is growing.
My cucumber plants have a number of flowers that have started to bloom, and I'm so excited.
Patience is a skill like any other, and the more you work on that skill, the more effectively you can implement it in your every day life. #gardening

Book #19 for 2025 - this one is going to take a while. It's both long (coming in at almost 1,100 pages!) and more complex in terms of language and narration (given that it's not a YA novel).
As of right now, I'm 1 chapter in, and the writing style is incredibly beautiful and enrapturing. #booksky

228 books on my physical #tbr - how many more can I get through this year? If my current trend continues, I should be able to finish 18 more books... which will bring it down to 210.
Tentative pie-in-the-sky goal is now to get that under 200 by Dec 31... who's with me? #booksky

Haaretz, an Israeli newspaper, reports that IDF soldiers and officers told the newspaper that they were "ordered to fire at unarmed crowds near food distribution sites in Gaza, even when no threat was present."
IDF soldiers have now themselves admitted they have been ordered to murder aid-seekers in Gaza.

Truly an atrocity built on atrocity.

Book 2 of the Family by Choice universe by Caroline Frechette. This story and narration was a huge step up for the author.
This one kept me gripped from pretty early on. Storyline engaging, characters interesting, and narration immersive to keep me wanting to see what happened next.

Listening to my body means eating a second round of lunch because my hunger cues are there for a reason. I didn't sleep well, and didn't eat a good breakfast, so my body needs more fuel. Glad I brought extra to the office!

Sitting in an office just makes me want to branch out into other avenues of income more than anything. My passion and dream is to no longer NEED to work a conventional job... and I'm taking steps to try and make that dream a reality.

We've recently been through years of this exact messaging around COVID, which has a similar threat profile in terms of mortality and disability.

Messaging that came straight from public health authorities and medical experts, who clearly did not think of the consequences of this messaging.
imagine watching a small child struggle to breathe because of a measles infection and then going on your radio show to explain that the “human body was designed to fight measles” with the clear implication that if you die your body just wasn’t good enough.

I'm already two chapters in, and I'm engaged! The choice to write this specific novel in third person limited instead of first person (like all of the other novels in the Hunger Games universe so far) can't have been an accidental choice. The innate 'othering' of Coriolanus Snow is striking #booksky

Starting The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes today... here's what I've selected for my next 4 books.
Anyone got a strong opinion on which order I should read them in? 📚

Despite trying to start them inside of 3 separate occasions this spring... these basils would only actually sprout in the dirt outside.
I'm not complaining, but I'm a little salty! #gardening #stubbornplants

Spending the afternoon with my bestie then watching her toddler while she goes to see one of her fave bands in concert. Love transcends romance, and turns friends into chosen family, if you'll let it

The future seems (and is) incredibly bleak, and right now the only thing that's keeping my head above water is focusing on the small things within my control.
My garden, my writing, my reading, my home care.
Small acts of autonomy in a world full of absolute power corrupting absolutely

Growth shouldn't be exponential - it should be organic, flowing, and beautiful. Like a cucumber vine up a trellis, or like the slow build of a hand-crocheted blanket.
Grow at your speed, relish the process, and fuel your soul.

My next read? The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes - I need to read it. Sunrise On The Reaping reignited my love of the Hunger Games universe, and I'm hungry for more #reading #booksky

Finished another book yesterday, the second book in an indie series - Brothers in Arms by Caroline Frechette. The first one was pretty meh, but the second one had me gripped and engaged the whole way through. Two more in that series, and I wanna read them this year! #booksky

My joy is in the small things. The slow and intentional. The not getting swept up in the hype. The pencil crayons and my grandmother's knitting needles. Walking through the garden and combing through for weeds, and inspecting the leaves for pests, and new growth.
A loving, intentional life

Y'all👀 my garden is thriving. I just had to add a layer to my French weave trellis for my tomato patch, and the pea pods are growing!! So exciting #gardensky #gardening #selfsufficiency

📖Devoured Sunrise on the Reaping in a single day at the end of May... and can I just say: WOW! 💥Stunning, terrifying, relevant... an excellent story about propaganda, power, and the effects of narrative control. 100% recommendation to be read for anyone who wants to increase media literacy #booksky

Back to planning my future so I can get where I want to be - time to really think on what brings me joy, what fills my passion, and what empowers me in my life.
I love creating, crafting, I love putting things into the world.
