Adrián González says his meeting with the Spirit medical staff hasn't happened today, & that's where he'll learn more about who among Trinity Rodman, Tara McKeown, Gabby Carle, & Deborah Abiodun could be available.

He does say he expects "more players" available for selection tomorrow.

Franny and Zooey by JD Salinger. Fuck Catcher, the way Franny FEELS so intensely spoke to me so hard as an overdramatic teen. You get to Zooey who gets her shit but wants to lead her out of her shit while he's still in his own shit.

My older brother launched it at me and told me to read it.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

this is the reason that caving was bad, it will not stop. It will not stop until our Senators have sacrificed everyone who's not a white Christian.
Dems even more likely to cave.

Thing is, when you teach a bully that they can get what they want by bullying, they don't just stop.

They go back to that well over and over again.

Ppl need to understand what's happening here.

The GOP response to the shutdown was: You're gonna cave, or we're going to hurt vulnerable people by shutting off SNAP. The Dems, unwilling to let that happen, caved.

Having watched that, the GOP is now saying: "Give us what we want on abortion or ..."

TARAN WANDERER by Lloyd Alexander had a HUGE impact on me as a kid. A joyfully democratic instead of a monarchic vision of high fantasy - and life. Tremendously grateful to have read it when I did.

The thing is that if you get your data from DoorDash, it might be more convenient but the costs add up in the long run, because it’s really better and cheaper to just go directly to the data place and pick it up yourself.
They’ve laid off so many people that the government is now getting its economic data from DoorDash.

This is actually good spin, or would have been. But the fact that the Democratic cave happened without even a coordinated, agreed-upon message like this indicates the depth of the leadership void.

I genuinely don't understand why a tax subsidy is different than a direct payment to a tax-favored account with which to buy insurance. It's already a WILDLY confusing product to understand and the information asymmetry between the consumer and the vendor is huge.
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
