This tech accelerationism is training people to just do the appearance of work: a headline, art that looks almost normal from a distance, to complete things as fast as possible and move onto the next... it's dissolving humanity and culture at large

This is what supporters of charter schools and vouchers don't tell you: because those schools aren't required to admit physically or learning disabled students, or ESL students, their "improved test scores" and whatnot are completely juiced—and it defunds the schools where disabled kids DO go.
WATCH: “Instead of giving money to private schools that don’t take kids like me, please help public schools get better and fund them.”

“In order to shoot off one email per week for a year, ChatGPT would use up 27 liters of water, or about one-and-a-half jugs… that means if one in 10 U.S. residents—16 million people—asked ChatGPT to write an email a week, it’d cost more than 435 million liters of water.”
AI doesn’t just require tons of electric power. It also guzzles enormous sums of water.

There's a forgotten history that should serve as a warning — wildfire isn’t unique to the West. Now the warming climate is increasing the risk of major wildfires across America. And more people are moving to fire-prone areas without realizing the danger.

We are getting presented with a false binary: do we support violence or do we support nonviolence?

The choice here is more about a reality that people have only begun contending with. Revolution is coming. The question is whether we will be participants and if so how.

My latest.
What Kind of Revolution Do You Want?
It's not just about a CEO's murder. It's about the kind of change we want and how we get there. And why we're here in the first place. A message to both those condemning and those celebrating the act.

@davidehrlich.bsky.social’s not-review-review of Wicked helped me make sense of my thoughts about this film and this moment and our obligation to be strategic with where we aim our “hate”. Thankful for his work.
A ★½ review of Wicked (2024)
[this isn't a review of Wicked, which i might've hated, it's a really long whatever about why i *didn't* review Wicked, and the value of "hating" a piece of commercial entertainment at time when animu...

Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC
