8:40 am this morning and fog has begun to lift off the Santiam River while an osprey or an eagle floats slowly westward over the other side of the river. Lots of moss covering the rocks and tree trunk to the left with some dead grass on the right. Trees line both sides of the river and the fog has risen just above most of them and still hides the sun ☮️

The Black kite is a scavenger and hunter. Although it can hunt small mammals, birds, and fish, it often feeds on carrion and human waste, making it an opportunistic feeder . Many Black Kites are long-distance migrants. European populations migrate to sub-Saharan Africa during the winter . They are excellent soarers and can spend long periods gliding in the air using termal currents .
