I’ve done some more work on this animation. I still don’t quite know where it’s going, but it’s getting somewhere!
Listening to this new album from London band Ulrika Spacek while commuting home along dark rural highways was a treat. It’s slightly experimental, downbeat, alternative electronic psych-rock, but understated. I like it.

They’ve updated Xikipedia where it can now store data locally so your feed doesn’t reset every time you close it. This is so simple, but I am finding it a good replacement for other endless scrolls.

This was really weird and wonderful.
Looking for something to do this weekend? Julian Glander's phenomenal 'Boys Go to Jupiter' is available on HBO Max in the U.S. now.

Apropos of Bad Bunny’s halftime show, I’ve got a podcast episode for that!!

I had two incredible Puerto Rican music experts on to break down Debí Tirar Mas Fotos last year. You’ll gain some amazing context for this iconic album.

Listening to the new album from Ratboys. It took me a couple of tracks to get into it, but it grew on me. The sound is melodic and loose indie pop rock.

Now listening to new (officially first) album from Geologist. Part of his description of the album reads:
“a rippling songscape in which his hurdy gurdy gives and takes multiple forms, an epic electro-acoustic textile of many colors cut from the life and times of Brian Weitz”

I really like this aggressive, moody, experimental noise. I hadn’t heard of this band, but I’m into this new album.

Support good music and the human beings who create it!
I'm making my usual #BandcampFriday plea: if you love music, consider spending as much today on music at Bandcamp as you do every month on music streaming subs. One $10 sale can make an artist's day-- and put as much money in their pocket as ~5000 or more streams!

Good news: It appears that they fixed it!
Like I know at least a few others have, I just submitted a report to BlueSky about the fact that Bandcamp links aren’t showing up with images anymore. I know there are bigger issues, but it takes away from sharing music and albums on here and it would be great if they could fix it!

One more:

A wise friend remarked here recently that between hope and despair, hope is the harder but better choice.

Some critics observe that Sibelius' 5th symphony is about hope (and swans). In that vein, and since hope is short in supply these days, the final movement.
