this is one of those days that the pages of history teach us are best spent lying in bed.

I got my Spotlight Pass at 4am this morning. I am actually going to the TCM Classic Film Festival.

It doesn't seem real. Somebody pinch me. #TCMFF
I made a decision last week to watch every film nominated by the #Oscars in Best Picture, Director, Actor and Actress…

And now I have to watch F1 and Song Sung Blue.

My 2025 Top 10 (so far);

#Oscars contenders still to watch: Marty Supreme, Hamnet, The Secret Agent, No Other Choice.

One of the biggest issues with #AliceAdams is that we don't see or learn enough about why Arthur likes Alice. Fred MacMurray is wonderfully charming, but we don't see enough of his initial attraction to justify him forgetting about his fiancé. Why is he drawn to her in the first place? #TCMParty

Katharine Hepburn looks absolutely darling in #AliceAdams (1935, George Stevens) #TCMParty

Joan Leslie, Julie Bishop and S.Z. Sakall dance to the title song in #CinderellaJones (1946, Busby Berkeley).

Instant mood booster.

I found #TrainDreams (2025, Clint Bentley) to be a strangely calming filmic experience. Beautiful and warm, while also quietly devastating and melancholic - this is a film about the meaning of one's life. I found the whole film to be extremely powerful. It touched something deep within my soul.

The moral of this film is that three strangers (with no parenting experience), who obviously don't live together, should not be allowed to adopt a baby together.

That and trouble starts with a capital "T" and that rhymes with "P" and that stands for POOL (!!) #TCMParty #BigCity

Well shit, that leaves me out.

#ItWasJustanAccident (یک تصادف ساده, 2025) is a haunting, thought-provoking drama that explores the morality of vengeance. Director Jafar Panahi was himself a political prisoner in Iran - which makes the film's themes and moral dilemma all the more impactful. The final 15 minutes are devastating.

I'm over half-way through Season 2 of #TheXFiles and this show has captured me heart and soul.

I'm loving every second of the ride.

This is so funny.

The star of SENTIMENTAL VALUE, ladies and gentlemen.

I just watched #Bugonia (2025, Yorgos Lanthimos) 🐝 It'll take some time before I can properly put my thoughts and opinions into words, but I was completely captivated from start to finish. The cinematography, production design and make-up was outstanding. Jesse Plemons should be getting awards love.

"There oughta be a law against parks...and benches...and him!"

I enjoyed #IfYouCouldOnlyCook (1935, William A. Seiter) a lot more this time around. Herbert Marshall and Jean Arthur are dynamite together and the plot is very sweet. An underrated screwball comedy- I'm glad I gave it a second chance!

I saw this film a long time ago and didn't like it. I'm excited to see if I change my mind. #IfYouCouldOnlyCook #TCMParty

This scene always breaks me. #OnlyAngelsHaveWings #TCMParty

I adore #OnlyAngelsHaveWings (1939, Howard Hawks). It gets better with each and every watch. Cary Grant was an incredibly gifted dramatic actor and doesn't get nearly the respect he deserves. He shows great range in this role and sparks with both Jean Arthur and Rita Hayworth. #TCMParty

I made a vow to never watch #OurVinesHaveTenderGrapes (1945, Roy Rowland) ever again after the first time. I can't do sad animal scenes. #TCMParty

"We live in a dead world"

Just finished #Five (1951, Arch Oboler) for the first time and it was a lot more enjoyable than I expected. "Last Man on Earth" movies have been incredibly common through the years - but this was one of the first post-apocalyptic films ever made. It's an interesting watch.

I finally caught this week's #NoirAlley entry, Barbara Stanwyck and Raymond Burr's final film noir #CrimeofPassion (1957, Gerd Oswald). I love the premise - a woman gives up her career for her husband, is bored silly and turns homicidal. I wish more classic films followed this narrative. #TCMParty

I saw Casablanca and Singin' in the Rain at a local movie theater today. A perfect double feature, if ever there was one.

Oddly, they compliment one another beautifully. Two of the greatest films of all-time. Two timeless monuments to all that film can achieve. What a wonderful day at the movies.

I LOVED #SentimentalValue (2025, Joachim Trier) 💙 Renate Reinsve is one of the greatest actresses in the world - and proves it with a truly heartwrenching performance. Stellan Skarsgård also gives the best performance of his career. A beautiful, poignant family drama that really resonated with me.

#PeopleWeMeetonVacation (2026, Brett Haley) is delightful. I admittedly didn't love the book, but Tom Blyth and Emily Bader bring these characters to life in a way that elevates the material. Their chemistry is UNBELIEVABLE. This is the closest I've seen a modern film get to an old school rom-com.

I just went and saw #RentalFamily (2025, Hikari) at the cinemas and LOVED IT 🌸 A joyful, warm, touching, kind-hearted film that leaves you feeling grateful to be alive. Brendan Fraser was born to play this role - I simply cannot imagine any other actor as Phillip. A truly beautiful film.
