📣 📣 We are back! 📣 📣

After more than 2 years away from social media, we are excited to reconnect and engage with the community. Life changes, new jobs, and moves around the world have kept us quiet - but behind the scenes, we have been planning and building. Now we are ready to relaunch EDIG!

It’s the International Day of Women and Girls in Science! We’re proud of the women who work to improve our collective understanding of the universe—from coral reefs to Earth’s atmosphere to exoplanets.

Here are a few of the #WomenInSTEM we’ve highlighted in our career issue over the years. #IDWGIS

Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science!🔬🔭

This year's theme is: From vision to impact: Redefining STEM by closing the gender gap.

In STEM we know that the number of women in academia decreases with increasing career stage. Geoscience is one of the least diverse fields of all.

Representation shapes how we see ourselves and how we see possibilities. In science and engineering, it remains essential. When people recognise themselves in a field, it builds inclusion, belonging, and the confidence to take part.

#Italy: We welcome the introduction of the crime of femicide – defined as the murder of a woman, motivated by gender – as a distinct law, following the Parliament's unanimous vote. This reflects meaningful progress in addressing discrimination against women and girls.

Do you use LinkedIn? Looking for input: Who do you connect with & why?

As a general rule, I only connect with folks I have worked with or directly interacted with elsewhere. Otherwise, I just follow.

Lately I am getting ++ invites from folks I don't know at all. Is this common in some circles?

EDIG has grown since its launch in 2020, but a core part of our past has been our events. We were originally intended to be a standalone conference, aiming to provide a platform for open discussion on equity, diversity, and inclusion in geoscience.
