Does no one remember the Swill Milk Scandal? 8000 babies died in New York State in one year. EIGHT THOUSAND BABIES.

They don't want us to learn history. Or science. Then it's easier to get away with cutting consumer protections to increase their profit margins by selling contaminated food.
Previous to the FDA, folks would put chalk and plaster of Paris in milk to make it appear white. They could also add formaldehyde to cover the smell and taste of spoiled milk.

"ai makes art accessible" is an argument i hate to my fucking bones. Art is EASILY accessible, I'd argue it's the cheapest most accessible hobby because all you need is a pen and paper.

"yeah but not everyone has skills" no everyone has the skill, you just need to put in the work

The cognitive dissonance of getting up every morning and making coffee and walking the dog and going to meetings and answering emails and wondering what to make for dinner while there is a real live actual coup d’etat happening is BONKERS

The BEST way to resist right now (besides physical obstruction if you find yourself in the position) is to ORGANIZE:

Start a Book Club.
Join a Nonprofit.
Start a club at School/Work.
Organize an Online Community.
Make AND Share Art.
Join Local Government/Councils/School Boards/PTAs/HOAs.

I used to try to avoid posting about politics too much, because I know people followed me for art and comic stuff.

But politics are affecting my ability to exist and create art, so I'm going to keep posting about politics until it gets better.

A while back I asked folks why they’re joining Bluesky and the most common response I saw was, “I just want a good place to get my news” and, yall, no. Bad.

I love that the cat we named Lucifur always looks mildly startled/terrified (she’s not, that’s just her face) and the kitten always looks coy/like she’s plotting something #caturday

DID YOU KNOW for 25 years Matthew Shepard had no permanent resting place due to concerns his grave would be vandalized

Reverend Budde learned of this, she invited the Shepards to inter him inside the Washington National Cathedral.

She was and is a real hero.

I don’t really want to parse David Lynch as An Artist for Our Times, but he understood so powerfully that small-town mores are the source of what makes America good and also what make it implacably evil

kitten’s new favorite thing is jumping into a round laundry basket we have and the tiny human now picks her up in it to walk her around the house singing a song he made up called “stinky stew” (affectionate/cant stop laughing)

Everything is dumb and terrible, and it's gonna be dumb and terrible for a while. It’s important to do what you can to make it less dumb and terrible, and it's important to find a way make some contentment for yourself in spite of everything being dumb and terrible.
