A post had the hook “the next Stanley Kubrick is scrolling TikTok instead of making films” and I call bullshit.

Pieces like this downplay systemic issues and place the blame on the individual.

“Because of Shinra’s energy, we were able to live very comfortable lives. But wasn’t that because we were taking away from the planet’s life? A lot of people thought so. Shinra used their power to try and stop anybody who got in their way.”

I had a good time sharing my 26 albums yesterday. It was fun reflecting on what I was listening to as a teenager starting out my musical journey.

#26AlbumsThatShapedMe

In no particular order

1. Nirvana - Greatest Hits This got me into music and I’m grateful I picked it up at Borders Books back in the day.

This is my thinline style guitar. I took a gamble on this one. Bought it off a thrift retail website that no longer exists for

$75 + $15 of hardware + the fender noiseless pickup(traded another guitarist)

The fretboard is just foil stickers. Sanded off the Glarry logo and refinished the neck.

I recorded this onto an old cassette using some random kenwood tape deck. Once recorded I played back the cassette and recorded it directly into Logic.

We must live meaningful lives in a world that does not feel safe. Do not wait for a sense of normalcy to start focusing on your craft, art, ritual, or family.

Have a lovely weekend and don’t forget…

Chasing trends will lead you to burnout and suffer from an identity crisis. When you’re tapped into the essence of what makes you an individual the results will be timeless.

Not a great singer nor a great guitar player. I am not a very prolific song writer. I do sing & play songs I wrote. I record them for me to remember and to prove I am indeed a singer songwriter. When I leave this world the songs will stay behind and they will be a remembrance of me and who I was.

I’m going to get my Dante certification in the next couple weeks.

If you’re an audio professional are there any certifications you hold or recommend?

I’ll be seeing a 35mm screening of this cinematic masterpiece tonight

I was puzzled by the position reception of this song and it even got some radio play last year. This was one of those tracks I was on the fence about releasing.

I struggle with long term lyrics memorization. When I would gig I could memorize the set for shows but then the lyrics would fade away.

I’m great with memorizing melodies though!

I watched The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension for the first time the other night. While it did have a couple memorable moments and a Jeff Goldblum cowboy, I still didn’t like it very much.

When I walked out of work tonight, 3 young men were in the parking lot smoking a blunt and listening to Danzig. I’m glad culture is being kept alive in this crazy world.

I was reflecting on 2025, my first full year using Bluesky and I’m glad to see this platform continuing to thrive.

I’ve met a bunch of musicians and artists and had some really engaging conversations. For this year I’d like to collaborate with more artists. I’m coming out of my hermit era.

I woke up at the crack of noon. Went to put on music on my TV to clean the apartment and saw the music video tab. Decided to put on 90s alternative. For the past few hours life has been good.

I had just got a cheap Glarry guitar and wanted to record something before I setup the guitar. This is a $75 guitar unmodified on this track.

Much love to the almighty budget guitar. For people like me who modify their setup, these are the perfect instruments.

“Some Squier guitars have more flash, panache and personality than many standard Fender guitars”: Why the stigma of budget electric guitars has disappeared over the past 25 years
As Squier and Epiphone have upped the quality, expanding their range, so too have the likes of PRS, ESP, Jackson and more, narrowing the gap between beginner and “serious” instrument

I could never make a short simple list of the music that inspires my music. It would be 1000s, potentially 10s of thousands of artists and bands.

As a young person exploring music on my own I definitely connected with Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix, Sublime and David Bowie.
