Last year, at Brymbo Open Day, we heard about the sad unfathomable closure of a steelworks when everything was lost. And tonight, at SciBar, we heard about another earlier Brymbo with gigantic mosses & dragonflies. The best steel and the best fossils - & the hope of new life. TY Dr Tim Astrop!

Excellent talk to the @chesterarchsoc.bsky.social by @drtobydriver.bsky.social tonight. Brought those hillforts vividly to life. Can’t wait to read the book now, and maybe explore a few of them myself in the summer. Thank you, @drtobydriver.bsky.social

Packed out hall tonight for a totally absorbing talk by Stewart Ainsworth on ‘Mapping the Past: From Ordnance Survey to Time Team’.
Stewart’s message was that archeology needn’t involve digging - which is excellent news as far as I’m concerned👍@HistArchChester

A rare and delicate survival from Bronze Age Denmark!

A 3,400 year-old woollen bonnet made using the ancient ‘språng’ technique which produces a textile with natural elasticity.

Allow me to present the Ushers Bakehouse pistacio, cherry and dark chocolate biscotti - in its native state and also in use. This was just good as I thought it would be.
