Recovering.
Today's walk.

First walk outside with the new splints. A lot less foot dragging and better heel to toe movement.

I dreamt I was back in the Stats Office again last night.

But it's the first dream I've had which acknowledged what's happened this year - I walked with a stick, someone noticed my trachiotemy scar and I explained Guillarn-Barre Syndrome to someone else.

Most peculiar.

Imaginary Albums #17: The Rolling Stones. In honor of (or as a replacement for) the new reissue of Black & Blue, the Stones' first post-Mick Taylor record, here's an imagined final Taylor LP, culling the assorted non-album leftovers on which he played.

Ok, I'll admit it, this didn't seem promising but turned out to be very enjoyable.
Back on the Christmas movies.

"Merry little Ex-mas" (Netflix, 2025)

Again all indoor scenes are curiously dubbed. The English eccentric character is already annoying within minutes. Plot visible from space. Alicia Silverstone deserves better.

Young Punctum blog update - this week it's the hits and miscellanea of June 1977. "Silver Jubilee" by Neil Innes is not included because I didn't want to include it:

JUNE 1977
All that needs to be said about this month is that Silver Jubilee Week in Uddingston was another early reminder of how utterly fenced-off ...

Years ago I set up a Google alert for my old podcast Goldfish Radio. From time to time it pops up with something.

Today it has picked up Peter Hitchens in the Daily Fail.

The 'much more' @joannawyld.bsky.social and I discussed also included Richard Strauss, why classical music is so much more than 'pleasant and polite', writing libretti, and Stevie Wonder. #FirstLastAnything

God I hate those bland FB posts which give seemingly knowledgeable overviews of artists or albums. This guff about Duran Duran's "Arena" album... "Critics noted this immediately", quoting Stephen Thomas Erlewine. Who was 11 years old in 84. So either he started reviewing music early or it's bollocks

Oh for goodness sake, I know I need next year's holiday to Benidorm and it's a mental health goal as well as a physical goal but I'm going to miss Wales Goes Pop and just look at that lineup - Heavenly, The Cords, EAWS, Swansea Sound...

Sigh.

New splints for my feet. Should encourage my toes and ankles to "wake up". I'm already walking more "naturally" according to the physios.

And they're called Boxio!
