Early days yet, I know but Drum has only sold 25 copies which is a bit of a reality check. I clearly need to up my promotional game so if anyone wants to invite me onto their podcast or do an interview or anything comedy related, you know where I am. Don't be shy.

Right let's see what else I can dredge out of the Honeybourne archives.

Blog update: In September 1986, Depeche Mode returned to the number one spot of the NME Indie Chart with "A Question Of Time". With its chugging rhythm and guitar sampled riff it sounded punchy and fresh, but who on earth were those lyrics about?

Sometimes you stumble upon an album cover so perfect... The photograph (by Ethan Russell), the font, the title. I don't care that it's probably a third rate easy listening album (John Keating apparently), just look and wonder. Beautiful.

I'm not sure about this "What's up?" at the top of the screen. Unless BS add the word "Doc" and a picture of Bugs Bunny.

Honeybourne Hospital Tour 2026 stopped off at St Joseph's earlier today for some hydrotherapy. Had some feeling in my toes which was encouraging.
Honeybourne Hospital Tour 2026 hits Pontypool County Hospital this morning for a specially made splint for my left hand.

And today I'm in hospital transport. God bless the NHS endlessly.
Honeybourne Hospital Tour 2026 has a date at Llandough Hospital this morning. It's where I saw my grandfather die in 1976. It's where Nessa gave birth to Neil The Baby. It's where I should have been moved last summer. It's also the closest I've been to my old home town in seven years. Hi Penarth!

Hmm. I like the new Harry Styles song a lot. Maybe I should wait for his new album and finish that Toppermost.

Did I start something here?
I'm very sorry to invoke this into your inner ears so early in the morning but ...

Whenever I hear about this "Board of peace" my brain starts singing "We come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill..."

Like I said... Sorry.

"A-Z" was a massive influence on me when I bought it at Xmas 86. There's a whole album of songs I wrote in its shadow, mostly unrecorded but they're in the back of my diary. The album was either called "All messed up and nowhere to go" or "Morgan - a suitable case for treatment". You get the idea.

Only four verses in "But no" - in fact the same verse repeated - but each verse develops from the previous one, louder, more crazed. What a brilliant arrangement and production!

Really interesting piece on Donald Trump and his college years.

Nobody knows what he scored - and it is a very closely guarded secret.

Now I wonder why that is.

The first contemporary song I remember hearing. I would have been 18 months old.

(The second contemporary song I remember hearing was "Hot love")
23rd JAN 1971 - GEORGE HARRISON
Became 1st SOLO BEATLE to have a #1 'My Sweet Lord' in 🇬🇧single charts. The track returned to the top of 🇬🇧 charts in 2002, following his death 🥲.

Here's my Exploding The Teardrops post on "Reward", how it came to be, how it changed the fortunes of the Teardrop Explodes and the legacy it leaves behind.

During the Teardrop Explodes' heyday Julian Cope would introduce this song as "a modern classic".

He wasn't wrong.
