Today, my term as director of the Psychological Science Accelerator — one of the largest collaborative communities in psychology — ends.

Working w/ @psysciacc.bsky.social was very hard work. But it was incredibly meaningful.

Three-quarters of teens say it often or sometimes makes them feel happy (74%) or peaceful (72%) when they don’t have their smartphone.

These positive emotions are much more common than negative feelings, like anxiety or loneliness.

Please don't use 'power analysis' when you mean 'sample size justification'. Power analysis is only one approach to sample size justification (online.ucpress.edu/collabra/art...) - accuracy and feasibility (!) are often more in line with the actual inferential goal of a study.

Beyond the Doom and Gloom, Here’s How to Stimulate Climate Action

I have a new piece in Scientific American with Madalina Vlasceanu explaining why doomerism might be a bad strategy for fighting climate change: www.scientificamerican.com/article/beyo...

Love this new paper so much!
We tested 10 behavioral interventions to mitigate #climatechange in 63 countries (N = 59,440)

The interventions’ effectiveness was small, largely limited to non-climate skeptics, and differed across outcomes.

First the center for
Open science. And now an age-matched website photo. How will @briannosek.bsky.social shake up academia next?!
After years of neglect, my long-standing academic website has been officially retired, and I have produced a new version.

Among the updates is a photo taken within a decade of my actual age. Goodbye 30-something self, you are missed but barely remembered.
