Some Venezuelans abroad are cheering Maduro’s arrest - he’s a brutal dictator who crushed opposition, jailed critics, wrecked the economy, and rigged elections.

But Trump isn’t helping Venezuela. This isn’t about democracy or human rights; it’s about power - and he’s following the same playbook.

Trump pardoned a former Honduran president who was convicted of drug trafficking.

And the Trump administration has never shown any evidence that Maduro was sending drugs and "narco terrorists" into the US.

Those are just the lies he's using to arrest Maduro and his wife.

Maduro is a dictator and Venezuelans have fled for decades. But Trump’s actions aren’t about human rights or election results. They’re about control of Venezuela’s oil. He just proved he’ll use blatant lies as a pretext to seize leaders who won’t comply.
Trump and his cronies can try to dress this up, but it is an illegal act of war to replace Maduro and grab Venezuela's oil for his billionaire buddies.

- says 2 US military injured
- refers to 300,000 US deaths (eg fentanyl)
- says we're (USG) deciding that now - on what comes next for VZ government
- asked about lack of congressional authorization, says they'll say "Oh Gee maybe it's not constitutional"

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

President Trump “is pushing our country toward an international crisis without valid reasons,” the editorial board writes after the U.S. attack on Venezuela was announced on Saturday. “If Mr. Trump wants to argue otherwise, the Constitution spells out what he must do: Go to Congress.”

Mike Lee, who fancies himself an intellectual, advances the premise that US agents can walk into the Venezuelan president’s rooms in Caracas at any time and exercise a plenary police power, and if anyone in that sovereign state might get in their way the military can just start blowing shit up.
