The odds were good enough to get the conversion kit installed, and after a day of working as a “good drone”, all that’s left to say is yeah, I think they nailed it. // I like this. // The tail, man! OMG I can’t get enough of it!! The way it curls into position at rest! How I can just wrap it forward to hold it! Or curl it around when sitting so it rests over my lap! The lumbar support! THE BALANCE!!! // Okay, calm down, Ren. // The only thing I’m iffy on, and I guess what’s helping keep that 94% from climbing higher, is the UUID that’s seared into every part of this. Following me around the drone network like a big, gaudy banner. It’s still fine to introduce myself as “Ren”, of course, and I do like “Renewed Synergy” as a personal designation, but the other drones I meet and chat with just seem to default to 90d3 at first. // Gonna have to find a way to prioritize “Ren” on my profile; haven’t gotten around to that yet. // The reactions at work were better than I expected! I guess after I consistently started showing up in the SUIT under my work clothes, the rest of the firm associates basically made a betting pool to see how long it’d be until I came in with synthfur. I don’t believe I’ll ever hear the end of it from Sylvia. // Ellie didn’t talk to me at all today, but I did catch her staring several times. I get it, though. This is a big and scary change and she’s my closest co-worker. Another thing I’ll need to address later.
