It remains possible that each side, having got missile strikes in, and with India having had what it can claim is the final word, could stop.

Agreed, but I’m a bit biased!
I'll just take this moment to point out that the US Institute of Peace, just a few weeks ago, contained one of the finest concentrations of US expertise on India and Pakistan, and crisis management in South Asia.

The idea of the Trump administration pulling a "reverse Kissinger" relies on a historical fallacy: Kissinger didn’t create the Sino-Soviet split. He merely took advantage of it.

Rubio and Hegseth have installed this twenty-something DOGE affiliate, Nate Cavanaugh, as acting president of the U.S. Institute of Peace, per filing.

Before DOGE took control of USIP, the duly appointed president was George Moose, a career diplomat who first joined the foreign service in 1967.

If Trump is firing USIP employees because they ‘failed to deliver peace’, then shouldn’t CIA staffers face the same fate for failing to have or acquire ‘intelligence’ ?

BREAKING — Nearly all employees at the US Institute of Peace (USIP) received an email tonight informing them they were fired effective immediately, multiple staffers confirmed with me.

Just a few HR and IT staffers are being kept on to assist DOGE’s illegal dismantling of the independent nonprofit.
