The problem with being introverted is that there is no polite way of saying "I love you but I'm tired of being with you right now."

Science people! 🧪 I need help deciphering this Q from a local occupational health form.....the link between the beginning and the end is eluding me:

"Will the individual undertake welding as part of of their duties? There may also be the need to consider vaccination in some specific circumstances."

nothing sharpens your skills as a researcher like being shoved in front of eight presenters working on a vast array of topics that are significantly removed from your own field of research and being told it is your job to ask them questions for six minutes with no backup

I'm kind of over people who write ENORMOUS essays on linkedin. I'm basically there for jobs and networking, not your life story or all of your opinions on Ukraine or feminism. Don't get me wrong, I am there for all your opinions, just not on that platform...

Today I am being a grown up.

Last week someone asked for a meeting today. I have made them aware of my free times and told them to let me know. Previously I would have chased going 'so? so? when do you want to meet??' but today I have decided they have all the information so this is on them.

I try and send something to Wikipedia at least once a year, academics use it so often and so blithely...
if you see this post, your actions are:
- if you have a spare buck, give it to Wikipedia, then repost this
- if you don't have a spare buck, just repost

your action is mandatory for the world's best source of information to survive
I’ve never donated to Wikipedia before but I set up a small monthly donation as a fuck you to the world’s richest psychopath.

For anyone writing fellowship applications: they don't tell you at the start how much more personally you take rejection than when you get a grant rejected

Not only is your science not good enough but YOU are not good enough either.

It's rough.
