Je voudrais, et ce sera le dernier et le plus ardent de mes souhaits, je voudrais que le dernier des rois fût étranglé avec les boyaux du dernier prêtre.

18 years ago today I took one of my favorite photos. I followed a small path behind a church in Pienza and suddenly : sunset on the slopes of Monte Amiata, from behind the palace of Pius II...

Given that the UK state is a rancid and corrupt zombie it's no surprise that repeatedly shoving in a fresh brain never works for long.

I wonder how much worse the roof woodwork on Kelvingrove Museum has gotten since this was taken in 2021?

Many beached rotting carcasses of industrial whales lie along Scotland St (hmm, that sounds a bit 'State of the Nation').
All could be rescued and turned into really good reclaimed housing.

Have finally got around to cancelling my TV licence. Apart from an occasional Newsnight (and BBC Alba on New Year's Eve) I realised that simply don't watch live TV any more. Fortunately you don't need a licence for Radio 4.

I immediately read this image as a coffin...
Look at this absolute delight! A local church holds a Rocking Service where the baby in the Parish born nearest to Christmas Day, is rocked in a decorated cradle at Candlemas. Possibly the last Church in the world to do so - unless you know different? #TinyJoys

Nice of them to give him a couple of days beforehand to "make the place look presentable" as it were.

Deleted a post about “what’s your least favorite song” because the vibes are bad enough already.

Instead: what’s your favorite song that has a long title, say at least 6 words long?

Mine: “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” (Pearl Jam)
